CAVS.... playoff thoughts and preliminary draft talk...

PLAYOFFS:

What it comes down to is that Lebron can't beat the elite of the NBA by himself... and right now I'd consider the elite of the NBA the Magic, Lakers, a healthy Celtics and a healthy 100% Spurs (Edited to reluctantly add a firing-on-all-cylinders Nuggets as well.)

Besides Lebron someone... ANYONE on the Cavs has to step up and hit shots and score some points with at least a tiny degree of reliability.  If not, the Cavs season is over.

That's really all there is to it.  Not much else to say.  

They've devolved back into the team that comes out like crap in the 3rd quarter and stands around watching Lebron on the offensive side of the ball.  It's ridiculous.

DRAFT:

Round 1- Pick 27-30

If any of these guys fall to where the Cavs pick I'd be happy... in order of preference.

Sam Young

Chase Budinger

Tyler Hansbrough

B.J. Mullens

Gani Lawal

Round 2- Pick 46 

Henk Norel

Young and Hansbrough due to their age and skill set would be the only ones you could really rely on to bring something to the table in their rookie year... and even then it'd be more a Darnell Jackson this year type playing time/production level.

Budinger might be able to do something in his first year... but really that's just in comparison to the rest of the list.  

Mullens, Lawal and Norel would all be big man prospect/project status.  The fact is that the Cavs need this type of player because even if they re-sign Varejao and you have a combination of Darnell Jackson/J.J. Hickson replace Joe Smith in the rotation next year, they still are forced to rely on Z and Ben Wallace and their aging unreliable bodies as half of their big man rotation and there is no way they last throughout the whole season... let alone what will happen in the upcoming ones and after their contracts are up.

----MINI REVIEW----  The fucking DJ drops ("DJ CANNON-on-on-on") are BRUTAL on this mixtape.  Right now I'm feeling "Cinnamon."  Watch out for appearances by Ludacris and Bun B.

***DISCLAIMER***

As of right now The Kickdrums, Kid Cudi, The Cool Kids, Slaughterhouse and Wale are all artists whose new music will pretty much get put up automatically without giving it a listen....  we won't catch everything, but anything major and free they release will get put up without a thought as to check it for FWYSO standards.  (This list is also subject to change according to the history and quality of releases from these individuals and others who might be added.)

They, as musicians, get the "FWYSO Seal of Approval".... which is something we actually take pretty seriously around here.

HOWEVER not all their music gets the FWYSOSOA... we just put up the new stuff without a thought and assume you as followers of FWYSO will be interested in new material from them.  The Seal may be retroactively added after we here have had adequate time to listen and digest what ever new material has been released.

A reason this is an issue is part because of the blind posting of this new Cool Kids mixtape BUT ALSO because of the last Kid Cudi mixtape posted... after listening to it I was rather underwhelmed.  Not to mention it included the track "Superboo" which Cudi has come out against as being very raw and not very proud of (read his blog entry here.)  

We enjoy those artists listed and figure you will as well... however we admit they are fallible, as our we, and might not release (or provide access to) their best work.  Still they are kick ass (as are we.)  If any of that made any sense at all.

Slaughterhouse MIXTAPE...... + Cool Kids and Wale mixtape news....

...and according to 2DopeBoyz, The Cool Kids have a new mixtape dropping (cool guy speak for "coming out") on Monday so stay tuned for that.... it's called "Champions" and has 10 new original tracks.

One disappointing piece of news is that Wale was supposed to drop his new mixtape on April 29th, called "Back To The Feature" but didn't and I haven't heard anything about it... stay tuned for updates on that that I'll probably just post here.... now I'm hearing some time next week it's coming....

NOTE:  Mixtape as a term, with the current ubiquity of digital distribution, has pretty much begun to encompass what was previously known as "mixtapes" as well as "demos" and "EPs"....  at least as far as I can tell.... so consider it an umbrella term when used on this site that means "free music" I guess.  I'm not the final word on it, but that's how we'll use it here.

I was on the fence until the end of the preview which TOTALLY MADE IT A MUST SEE....

Zach Galifinakis... Andy Bernard..... that other guy that's always in movies..... pretty good cast and it looks like it will be funny.  Kind of a "Dude Where's My Buddy Who's Supposed To Get Married?"

I'll be straight though if it wasn't that director (from Old School) and those 3 actors I would be much less enthused.
